When scrolling through the pages of Instagram I came across a striking illustration of the profile of Bob Dylan in black and white on the cover of The New York Times. I couldn’t help looking up the work of this inspiring artist named Malika Favre. She is a French artist & illustrator who lives in London and has worked for prestigious clients such as The New York Times, Vogue, Penguin Books and Sephora. If you go to her home page Malika Favre, you will immediately be struck by the colourful images and minimalistic lines that define the characters, objects and idyllic locations. I cannot help but admire her work. There is something very sexy and dandy about her images with pretty women, beautiful places, men in tailored suits and cute dogs. You just want to dive into her colour chrome world she so well executes.
TRD: If I try to combine colours like she does, my images would look more like a harlequin.
Did you know: As a kid Malika Favre had no TV or video games, so she would draw all day while her mother encouraged her to get better at her craft.
